Wilfrid’s call to lift those who are down has continued to bring hope to the community of Big Tree. Despite the painful loss of his mother, his passion to help others remains strong. With concerns of supplies becoming scarce and a lack of mitigation materials, Wilfrid knew that the need to support this community was urgent.
Wilfrid reached out to us to help support this community both physically and spiritually. Our prayers and God’s love will continue to bring hope to these people. Through your generosity, we were able to send funding to provide essential supplies to them. Bags of rice, beans, buckets, rubbing alcohol, cleaning supplies and other critical supplies were purchased to help these families in need. Volunteers spent hours inside Wilfrid’s home sorting the supplies and making “gift bags” for families. These vital supplies were shared with more than 54 families in this remote area. In Wilfrid’s prior outreach, he shared supplies with more than 40 widows.
Our liaison, Enel, was there to help distribute these “gift bags” to many of the families. Here is what he told us about the importance of these gifts.
“I was excited and sad at the same time. I was excited because I could help. I was sad because I see there are so many people who really need someone to help them daily in their lives.”
Here are some of the other grateful families.
