“No More Snakes”
A New Home for Adrillene
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” – James 1:27 ESV
Today was the day! Adrillene, the 80-something year old widow, shuffled her way down the line of 24 Valor high school students and leaders on a spring break trip, kissing each one the cheek. The students had just put the finishing touches of paint on a new home built in partnership with Hope Rising Haiti and GVCM.org.
Adrillene opened the door and stood in the first home she’s ever had that didn’t have a dirt floor. With a metal roof, concrete floor, and cinder block walls, Adrillene turned to the Valor students and exclaimed, “No more snakes!”
This new home is providing Adrillene with safety, security, and an abundance of joy, not to mention a solution to a snake problem. The Valor Discovery team furnished her home with a new dining room table with chairs and a brand new bed.
Adrillene is rejoicing at how God is providing for her very basic needs through generous supporters of Hope Rising Haiti, Valor Discovery, and GVCM. Though her real home is heaven, God is providing for her journey on here on earth.
Hope Rising Haiti’s goal is to build 50 houses in the impoverished community of Fedja in 2016. Adrillene’s house is the first one to be built and there are already 12 families identified by Pastor Yves Prophete and Fedja Christian Church on the waiting list who desperately need a safer, more suitable place to live.
Homes cost approximately $5,000 each to build and give families a real floor, real walls, a real roof, and a few important furnishings. Hope Rising Haiti is maximizing resources to get these families in new homes by hiring local Haitians to build homes, boosting the local economy and allowing construction to move forward without the need of waiting for mission teams to be sent.
This housing project not only revitalizes the hope of people in Fedja but allows Hope Rising and our partners in Haiti to continually bring the Gospel of Jesus to the area by providing a very real need for shelter.
Would you prayerfully consider helping a family receive a new home? Construction can begin as soon as the finances arrive. We are ready to build and bless these families. Thanks for your prayers and support!
