Marie Lourde has endured many struggles in her life, but we were able to provide a safe new home for her and her family! Marie’s husband passed away 18 years ago, and six of her 10 children have also passed away.

On top of these difficult experiences, she and her family lived in an old, unstable home. During the rainy season, Marie and her four children had to stand all night in the corner of their home so they could stay dry, and no one could sleep.

Though Marie suffered through many losses in her life, her faith in Jesus is strong and unwavering. She faithfully attends GVCM Church, walking 2 miles through fields each Sunday to worship and hear God’s word.

After hearing Marie’s story, we knew we had to build a safe, sturdy home for her and her family. She is overjoyed with her new house, and knows that God shared her need with Hope Rising Haiti.
