Home build: Fall 2018
The Need
Build and maintain a safe and sturdy home
How we helped
Constructed home in 2018 and made improvements in 2020
“Now with the new doors, I feel safe in my home and I’m free to leave the house knowing that my belongings are secure. Thanks to God for answering my prayers and to all of you for making my home safe again. I love you all!”

It’s such a privilege to be able to provide safety and security to families in Haiti who have lived in unsafe conditions for many years.
Thanks to your support, Hope Rising Haiti was able to repair a family’s home
Miguelange Seme lived in a house with a dirt floor and walls made of sticks and metal scraps. The house leaked and offered little protection or dignity for the family who lived there. Our local partners connected us with Miguelange, and we raised funds to build her a new home in 2018.
In 2020 a storm destroyed the wooden doors of her house. She was unable to leave her house if her kids weren’t home, and at night, she felt very unsafe.
When we heard about the damage to Miguelange’s home, we knew we had to help repair her house. Hope Rising Haiti raised funds to replace her broken wooden doors with new steel doors and have plans to complete a toilet and shower area for the family.
Miguelange is grateful for a home that provides her with safety and security, and she is glad that her family can be protected from the elements.

We’re so grateful for your continued support of our friends in Haiti! Praise God that we were able to provide Miguelange and her family with a new home and make the repairs she needed.
Although there have been many stumbling blocks along the way, we are happy to share the great news that Miguelange’s home is now complete!
When her doors were destroyed by the forces of nature, we offered our help to replace the doors in late 2020. While repairing the doors, our team discovered major cracks in her walls and significant structural damage to her roof. Our team also realized that her family lacked a private latrine and shower area. And for Miguelange, who is nearly blind, the short trip to the latrine area would be difficult to navigate every single day.
Our solution? We prayed that God would provide for her. In a short time, we raised enough funds to reinforce the failing structure of her walls, replace her roof and build the private latrine and shower area with a pathway leading to it. We were also able to enlarge some of the rooms with the help of Miguelange’s son Peter, and the house now has much more space to cook and move around.
Haiti’s recent civil unrest, which was centered in Port Au Prince, complicated the construction process, and it was a challenge to get critical supplies to the remote areas. But the team kept their faith and at last, Miguelange’s home was finally completed!
"Words are not enough to explain the happiness in my life. I want to thank God and thank you as well for all you’ve done for me. I’m very excited and proud of my house!"
